He was Counsel in two ground - breaking maintenance / child support law decisions, namely the case of Petersen versus the Maintenance Magistrate of Simon’s Town and Others, where the Western Cape High Court declared that Paternal Grand Parents have the same duty of support as Maternal Grandparents with regard to maintaining a child born out of wedlock, as well as the more recent case of Soller versus the Maintenance Magistrate of Wynberg and Others, where the Western Cape High Court confirmed the extensive powers of the Maintenance Court, which includes interdicting pension funds.
